Illustration for page 26 of The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies, 1909, Beatrix Potter. Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) was an English writer, illustrator, natural scientist and conservationist best known for her children’s books featuring animals, most notably The Tale of Peter Rabbit. This watercolour from The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies shows the bunnies having eaten a large quantity of lettuces, which have a soporific effect, fast asleep. Benjamin Bunny has a paper bag over his head to keep off the flies.
