Jaipur (popular with its nickname Pink City) is a travelers’ favorite destination on the Golden Triangle Tourism Circuit along with Delhi and Agra. Jaipur is the capital of the Indian State of Rajasthan and is home to palaces, forts, and historical monuments including City Palace, Govind Dev Ji Temple, Vidhan Sabha, Birla Temple, and several massive Rajput forts. Also, the city serves as the gateway to the desert cities of Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.
Jaipur is the first planned city in modern India established by Sawai Jai Singh in the 18th Century. The city inherits its nickname ‘Pink City’ from its uniquely colored buildings that imitate the red sandstone architecture of Mughal cities. The present earthy red color originates from the repainting of the buildings undertaken for a visit by the Prince of Wales in 1876.
Whether you are looking for an extended tour or same day tour to Jaipur, we can plan it well including the travel and accommodation facilities. Here is how you can reach the city.
Jaipur is served by Jaipur International Airport (IATA: JAI). The city has international arrivals from and departures to Singapore, Bangkok, Sharjah, Muscat, and Dubai. The airport is also connected with all popular cities in India including Jodhpur, Udaipur, Aurangabad, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Goa, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, and Indore.
Indian Railways connects Jaipur from all over the country with long- and short-distance train services. There are three major railway stations: Jaipur Junction railway station, Durgapura, and Gandhinagar (Jaipur) — which is not to be confused with the Gandhinagar which is the capital city of the state of Gujarat. Most of the trains have scheduled halts at Jaipur Junction and a few trains stop at Durgapura and Gandhinagar stations also.
The most popular option from Delhi is the Shatabdi Express which departs New Delhi station at 06:05 and reaches Jaipur at 10:30 AM.
Jaipur has seamless road connectivity with neighboring states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Punjab. The state-owned Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) operates Non-A/C and AC Volvo bus services from both directions.
From Delhi, you can board the bus from Bikaner House on Pandara Road next to India Gate. From Jaipur, you can board the bus from Narayan Singh Circle or the main Sindhi Camp bus stand. You can also book tickets up to 6 days in advance from both of these places. These buses typically take 6 hours. There are also some private bus operators from Dhaula Kuan in Delhi and outside of the Sindhi camp in Jaipur. However, it’s recommended to take buses to Jaipur from the RSRTC.
To save time, Jaipur Tour from Delhi by car is the best way. It would help you to cover all the key attractions of the city without the hassles of changing buses. However, these could be a bit expensive as compared to the bus ones.
Instead of going by a tour-operator planned Jaipur Tour from Delhi by Car, if you are managing the Jaipur tour on your own, knowing the local transportation facilities can be helpful.
Jaipur Metro is the best affordable and seamless travel means to get around the city. The Pink Line runs from Mansarovar to Badi Caupar station, which is in the centre of the walled town (a.k.a the Pink City). The Orange Line, connects the Jaipur Airport with the Pink City.
The RTDC (Rajasthan Tourism Dept. Corp.) also operates tours to the city. There are two popular types of tour:
Amber Fort & Palace, City Palace & Museum, Observatory (Jantar Mantar), Hawa Mahal (Front View), Jal Mahal (Front View), “Gaitore” Maharaja Cenotaphs (View on the Way), Jaipur Wax museum, Nahargarh Fort & Palace, Jaigarh Fort, Laxminarayan Temple (Birla Mandir), Kanak Virndavan.

To explore further, you can take auto-rickshaws (tuk-tuks). Prepaid autorickshaws are the best option that you can get from Jaipur railway station and the Sindhi Camp bus stan. Prefer buying any souvenirs from popular marketplaces like Bapu Bazaar instead of going by the option recommended by your auto-rickshaw drivers as they mostly work on a commission.
Jaipur Tour from Delhi by Car helps you visit Amber Fort, Jantar-Mantar, Hawa Mahal, Albert Hall (Central Museum), Nahargarh Fort, Sisodia Rani Palace/Garden, Vidyadhar Garden, and Isarlat Tower (Swargasuli).
Getting a composite ticket to see all the archaeological monuments is a good idea. The ticket has a validity of 2 days and can be brought from the Rajasthan Tourist Government Office website.
Popular temples are Akshardham Temple, Birla Temple, Galtaji (Shree Galta Ji; Monkey Temple), Galwar Bagh (The Monkey Temple), and Govind Devji Temple.
Museums include the Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing and the Central Museum.
